Terrace of 3 houses, with steps, walls and piers attached.
c1870. Probably built by Joseph Kyle and Sons. Thin courses of
rock-faced stone with ashlar quoins and dressings. Roof of
Welsh slates with red ridge tiles, stone gable copings and
stone chimneys. Right porch has decorative bargeboard and wood
trellis. Gothic Revival style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3:2:2-window range, and one right
set-back entrance bay to No.77. Steps up to panelled doors at
centre of No.81, and at right of other houses with shaped
overlights in moulded surrounds with low pointed heads under
flower-stopped dripmoulds and relieving arches. Similar heads
and moulded surrounds to ground-floor windows at right of
No.77 and in full-height canted bays at left. First-floor
windows in canted bays and over doors have shouldered heads.
All have plain sashes with sloping sills, the single lights
with alternate block jambs. Bay window roofs hipped with
wrought-iron finials. Tall stone chimneys set mid-ridge front
and back, at right of each house. Pent roof to porch set back
at right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: chamfered stone coping to walls flanking
steps and garden paths, and in front of gardens. Tall gate
piers with plinths and stepped octaonal coping. Renewed gates;
railings removed.
