04/03/52 No.14

House in row, one of a pair. Early C19. Painted Flemish bond
brickwork, tile roof, brick stacks. Probably built as one of a
pair with No.13 (qv) adjoining, but there is a straight joint
in the brickwork, and a slight break in the roof line at the
mid party wall. The roof is parallel with the street, in 2
ranges, with a central valley, and very large central valley
stack.
3 storeys, 1-windowed. 16-pane sashes to voussoirs and stone
cills. Ground floor has late C19 decorative pilaster shop
front with brackets, and original fascia below moulded
cornice. At the centre splayed set-back to the glazed door,
and in the responds, are moulded cast-iron colonnettes with
caps, carrying wide basket-handle arches, and the stall riser
is panelled. Small box eaves gutter.
A slightly lower wing at the rear is in painted brickwork with
tiled roof, with a small 12-pane sash in the gable above a
larger 12-pane, offset under a segmental brick arch partly
blocked, and above a flat-roofed extension. The flank wall, in
brick, has a small 4-pane light, possibly cast-iron, in a
roughly cut brick arch, and there are 2 brick stacks. INTERIOR
not inspected.
