House in row, with shop. Early to mid C18 front on C16 or C17
fabric. Flemish bond brickwork, timber-framing, tile roofs,
brick stack.
A parallel-plan street range, partly over Mason's Court to the
left (shared with Nos 81 & 82 (qv)), and with 2 rear ranges
with steep-pitched roofs.
3 storeys, 2-windowed. 12-pane sashes in moulded exposed boxes
under wide brick voussoirs, fluted keystones with cornice and
stone cills. Fine mid C19 shop front in pilasters and
consoles, with recessed central door, and arched lights, on
panelled stall risers and returns. Brick stack to right. The
upper courses of brickwork to the concrete-coped parapet
rebuilt.
The rear ranges are in 2 storeys, with C20 raking dormers
below flush roof-lights; the first section also has a 2-light
C18 casement with moulded mullion, rising through the eaves as
a dormer. The outer gable has horizontal boarding.
INTERIOR: the main chamfered bressumer to a jetty is inside
the shop front, and a longitudinal beam with mortices suggests
a former division in 2 rooms. At first floor there are remains
of substantial framing, and various C18 panelled doors,
including one internal door with the upper part glazed with 9
thick crown glass panes. In the attics can be seen the timbers
to an earlier steeply-pitched roof to the front range.
