14/52 Rectory Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse, now house. Circa 1700, incorporating earlier elements; extended C20.
Coursed squared marlstone and limestone with wooden lintels; artificial
stone-slate roof with ashlar lateral stack. 3-unit plan, extended. 2 storeys
plus attic. 4-window marlstone front, with a first-floor storeyband, has aligned
irregularly-spaced renewed cross windows with chamfered lintels, and has the
entrance in a C20 stone porch in bay 2. Steep-pitched roof has 3 gabled C20 roof
dormers. Gabled C20 extension breaks forward on left. Right end wall, in
limestone, continues the storeyband and has 12-pane sashes with flat arches to 3
floors. Rubble rear wall has several blocked openings and a large lateral stack
with a plinth. Interior: C16/C17 Tudor-arched stone fireplace with later jambs.
Probably on the site of the rectorial manor house. C20 range is not of special
architectural interest.
