Watermill, millhouse and bridge. C17 and C19. Coursed limestone rubble and
coursed squared marlstone with ashlar dressings and some wooden lintels;
concrete plain-tile and Welsh-slate roofs. L-shaped plan. Mill, of 2 storeys
plus loft, is in 2 builds, the larger to east mainly C17 and built of limestone.
Its road front includes 2 small windows, with moulded-stone surrounds, flanking
a central opening with chamfered jambs and a stone lintel, to extreme right is a
stable-type door, and to extreme left a wide segmental-arched opening with a
chamfered ashlar surround; first floor has 2-light casements flanking a loading
door. Right end wall has a further loading door above 2 blocked windows with
moulded stone surrounds. The C19 section is taller and has marlstone-ashlar
dressings. Millhouse, returning at rightangles from it, is an irregular 5-window
range of 2 storeys and of several builds, although probably mainly c17; it is
part limestone and part marlstone and has renewed casements, some retaining
chamfered lintels. Steep-pitched roof has 2 weatherboarded gables and 2 brick
stacks. Interior: Mill has a metal breast-shot wheel and fairly complete wood
and metal gear, but formerly had a second wheel. Bridge over tailrace, carrying
the B4031, is in coursed rubble with a C19 brick segmental arch; plain parapet
has flat copings and extends approximately 20 metres to west,
