10/120 Yatesbury House Farmhouse
II
Country house, c1800 east range and c1840 west range, brick with
slate roofs. East range is 2-storey, 3-window formal front with
hipped roof, stone plinth, band and parapet. Centre projects with
plain pediment, open pedimented doorcase with fluted friezes to
pilasters and traceried fanlight, and first floor round headed sash
with gauged brick head. Each side, a large added ground floor
plate-glass bay window and first floor gauged-brick headed 4-12-4-
pane Venetian window. Long west front has hipped eaves roof and
two brick ridge stacks. Symmetrical, but two apparent phases as
centre and right side are in emphatic chequered brick and left side
has lighter chequer and a band of black headers. Sash window
with gauged brick flat heads. Left side has 2-storey brick canted
bay to left with 8-16-8-pane sashes and tripartite sashes to right.
Centre door in beaded surround in ashlar Ionic porch with paired
columns, festooned frieze and single pilaster responds. Twelve-
pane sash over, and, to right, 2-window range of tripartite sashes,
4-12-4-pane below, 4-8-4-pane above. On south end is attached
single and 2 storey stable block, the 2-storey centre with hipped
roof and depressed-arched entry.
Interior: east range has plain stair and good plaster cornices,
probably early C19, one in south east room with original colouring.
Adam-style fireplace in north east room.
