Circa 1844. Central railings formed of 12 panels of cast-iron decoration
each about 8 ft long; a lattice of linked quatrefoils with trefoil cresting
standards have fleur de lys heads and shaped dog-leg stanchions. Flanked
by gates of similar pattern with vermiculated gatepiers capped by arcaded
panel with corner shafts and moulded capping. Walls on either side terminate
in similar piers. The walls are each about 25 yds long and about 4 ft 6
ins high; they have a high battered plinth and a parapet pierced with moulded
oculi below coping.
