Walled kitchen garden of Manor House estate, c1890, built for E.C.
Lowndes. Red brick and squared small ashlar block coped walls.
Red brick walls to rear and sides, tall north-west corner archway
with ashlar dressings and Jacobean style cresting. Iron gates.
Short length of ashlar wall at south-west front returned with
gateway aligned with north-west archway. Ashlar piers with ball
finials and iron gates with ECL initials and 2 bronze lions head
crests. Centre of rear wall is ramped up over stone tiled hipped
lean-to roofed shelter. 4 large C17 Tuscan ashlar columns to front
and 2 responds, formerly the Butter Market in Chippenham Market
Place, where it was free standing with hipped roof and 3 columns to
each side.
