Farmhouse. Late C16 3-cell house with C17 dairy cell to left, forming a
single long range. C19 alterations. Timber framed and plastered, the gables
with exposed timbers of C19 or C20 date. Roof of concrete plaintiles, not
steeply-pitched. 2 storeys and attic. Various windows. Ground floor has 4
mid C20 standard small-paned casements and, to the left, 2 C19 3-light
casements. To first floor, 3 C19 sash windows with glazing bars. Lobby
entrance: C19 plastered gabled porch with spike finial; door in 2 leaves,
three-quarter glazed, with margin glazing bars. Internal stack with C19 white
brick shaft. Former dairy has slatted gable end window. One-storey rear
lean-to of colourwashed brick with a slated roof. Interior. Victorianised.
Hall has chamfered-joist ceiling, plain joists at service end. Main
components of frame visible on upper floor. Cambered tie beam over hall
chamber. C19 straight stair. Dairy addition has on-edge joists; the
alignment of one jowled post suggests this may originally have formed part of
a cross-wing. Roof not examined but almost certainly a C19 replacement.
