House. Dated 'IBK 1679' on left hand gable end, now in a first
floor bedroom (modern copy of datestone on facade); rear range
c.1730; service wing to south c.1750; 2 bay extension to north
added early C20. Original house: red brick, glazed pantiles;
moulded brick band at first floor and eaves level, flat parapet;
2 storeys and attic; 8 window range, sashes with glazing bars in
flush frames, flat brick arches; mid-late C19 porch: rusticated
white brick and stucco; centre section with engaged Tuscan
columns and twin pilasters, sash windows to either side; frieze,
dentil cornice with pediment over doorway, flat parapet; 6-panel
fielded door, narrow rectangular fanlight. 4 dormers, 2 with
triangular and 2 with segmental pediments. Original Dutch gable
to right hand side. Early C20 2 bay extension to left hand side
in matching style with ground floor canted bay and 2 Dutch end
gables. Rear range parallel with original house: dark purple
brick with red brick dressings, including first and second floor
brick bands, slated roof; 3 storeys; 6 window range, original
sashes with heavy glazing bars in flush frames, segmental arches.
Service wing set back from main facade: red brick; 2 storeys with
flat parapet; 9 bays; casement windows with various blank panels,
2 doorways with 6-panel doors. Interior with C18 panelling in
many rooms and early C19 6-panel fielded doors; one bedroom with
dentil cornice; good early C18 staircase with turned balusters
and enriched square newel posts; some good C19 cast iron
fireplaces.
