Two houses, mid to later C18, No 41 and 2 bays of No 41a of one
build c1760, but No 41a also includes one bay of 3-bay house to
left, now Masonic Hall (q.v), later C18. Main range is ashlar
fronted to east with south side to road in coursed rubble with
coped north gable with stack and coping with stack on rear wing
between Nos 41 and 41a. East front has 2 hipped dormers, formal
front with raised angle strips and band, coved eaves cornice.
Three-window range of 12-pane sashes in moulded architraves with
central door in architrave with pediment on brackets over. Rear
wing has coved eaves cornice, one small dormer and 3-window range,
3 upper flush cyma-moulded two-light windows, ground floor 12-pane
sash in architrave surround with cornice, pair of 12-pane sashes in
architrave surround and 6-panel door (to No 41a) in bead-moulded
architrave with pediment on brackets. To left, right-hand bay of
adjoining house, ochre-washed rubble with stone tiled roof and 2-
light flush cyma-moulded window to each floor, dripstone over lower
window. North of east front, rendered addition with coped gable,
north end stack, asymmetrical fenestration. Long 2-light flush
cyma-moulded windows with dripstone to first floor east and first
floor north. Ground floor east single light with dripstone, C20
door and 12-pane sash wth dripstone. Ground floor north, two 9-
pane windows. Low wing behind. Dog-leg stair with column newels
to centre of main range.
