1/261 Middlewick House
II
House, later C18 front range with earlier work in west wing, early
and late C19 additions. Front range is ashlar with stone-tiled
roof, end stacks, raised band, moulded cornice and parapet, 2-
storey, 5-window range. Twelve-pane sashes and central 6-panel
door in Roman Doric projecting porch with pilaster responds and
flat entablature. Wings set back each side of main front. Left
range is later C19 with C20 Hely-Hutchinson crest on north end and
initials of T.H.A. Poynder of Hartham on south end. Right range is
possibly mid C18 with blank north end wall and 3-storey west side,
ground and first floor paired sashes in cyma-moulded surrounds with
cornice over each pair. Upper floor may be added, 2 pairs of 12-
pane sashes. To south of main range parallel early C19 range,
rubble stone with ashlar band and sill course, 3-window range of
12-pane sashes, central French windows to ground floor. To left,
slightly projecting one-window range of sashes with hipped roof.
