Gatehouse. Dated 1842. Designed by William Foale of Hull.
Painted ashlar, roof not visible.
Classical Revival style. Plinth, entablature and stepped
blocking course. Two storeys; three bays. Central recess framed by
square Doric pilasters, with moulded round-arched carriage
entrance with dated keystone carrying the arms of Trinity
House, flanked by giant Ionic columns in antis. On either
side, a single plain sash on each floor. Under the archway, a
pair of concave-topped wrought-iron gates and a 3-bay cross
vaulted passage. On either side, a round-headed door, that to
left blocked, with fanlight. Above each door, a round-headed
glazing bar sash. Elaborate cross-shaped bracket carrying a
central lantern.
