Offices, now a bank. c1840-50. Ashlar; parapeted roof not
visible. Double-depth plan with rear extensions. Classical
style with Greek Revival influences.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range with a
recessed panel to the left. Dentilled cornice and blocking
course over a band that forms a continuous lintel to the 3
second-floor windows; these have one horizontal glazing bar
and margin panes to each sash; vertical lines are incised
between the lintel band and cill band to either side of each
window. A raised architrave with a moulded cornice and
acroteria to centre and ends, frames 3 semicircular-arched
plate-glass sash windows with patera to spandrels to the first
floor. A projecting cornice to the bank fascia at first-floor
cill level is over an entablature to 4 fluted Corinthian
columns which flank the door and windows. C20 louvred
fanlights over the C20 plate-glass windows and doorcase;
egg-and-dart lintel to an overlight and C20 double doors. The
plain recessed panel to the left has a C19 door with 4
raised-and-fielded panels, bolection moulding and 2
overlights, the upper one with diagonal glazing bars. INTERIOR
not inspected.
