House, now school. C18 with C19 alterations.
Painted stucco; hipped slate roof; painted stucco end stacks
with mouldings. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar; 6-window range: 12-light
sashes in moulded architraves with pads and moulded pediments;
sill band with corbelled sills under 9-light sashes in moulded
architraves; a band and 2 rows of modillions to moulded
cornice. Modillioned cornice to flat portico on square
columns, containing 8-panel door in moulded case, under raised
moulded hood, flanked by 12-light sashes in moulded
architraves; to either side, two, 12-light sashes with moulded
shouldered architraves under pads and moulded hoods; moulded
band and sill band with chamfered quoins. Rear elevation has
canted bay window.
INTERIOR: C19(?) open-well staircase with moulded string and
rail and barley sugar twist balusters; acorn pendants;
margin-glazed Gothic stairwell light; bolection moulded niche.
Relict C18 dogleg staircase with splat balusters. 2nd floor:
4-panel doors; C19 fireplace. 1st floor: cornices; C18
fireplace (centre right front); 6-panel doors; bolection
moulded architraves; C18 fireplace (right rear); C18 fireplace
and moulded dado.
Ground floor: front left: C18 fireplace; window shutters;
skirting. Front right: panelleing; coved ceiling with rose;
fire surround with tiled grate. Centre rear: cornice; ceiling
rose; C19 fireplace; moulded architrave. Hall: 6-panel doors
with bolection moulded architraves; panelled dado with rail;
part-glazed panelled door with fanlight, in arched architrave;
cornice; panelled shutters and risers to windows. Stairwell:
bolection moulded architraves with Gothic additions; 4-panel
doors; 6-panel doors; frieze and cornice. Cellar: flaps by G
Bonner of Hereford; stone-lined.
