Farmhouse, now house. Probably later C17; remodelled and
recently enlarged. Cruck frame with later brick cladding now
rendered and painted white, restored thatched roof. Four bays,
the 1st formerly a shippon. One-and-a-half storeys; all
openings altered: doorway formerly at junction of 3rd and 4th
bays, in line with chimney, but entrance now in 2nd bay, C20
windows inserted and chimney removed; renewed thatched roof
with prominent oversailing eaves and 2 large dormers,
replacing former thatched roof with eaves almost flush with
walls and very low small windows just under eaves.
(Photographic). C20 two-storey wing recently added to rear.
INTERIOR: remains of three cruck trusses: one at the junction
of the 1st and 2nd bays, with blades terminating above a
collar and a kingpost mounted on this, and strongly curved
windbraces; a similar truss at the gable end of the 4th bay,
also with a king-post mounted on a collar, and one similar
windbrace; and the front blade of another truss at the
junction of the 2nd and 3rd bays, with a similar kingpost and
similar wind-braces on both sides.
