Cottage in field approx. 300m NW of
Anchor Farmhouse (not included)
II
Very small cottage, now derelict. Probably mid C19; altered.
Rendered brick walls of single thickness, slate roof. Linear
2-room plan with very small lean-to at rear of left room.
Damaged doorway flanked by damaged windows; gable chimneys.
Two rectangular stone fireplaces inside. A dwelling of almost
minimal size, said to have been inhabited until about 30 years
ago. Interesting and now very rare example of a type which was
formerly common in the mosslands of West Lancashire,
illustrative of aspects of C19 social history: see also the
Old Post Office, Hall Lane, LATHOM CP.
