GV II

School, now 2 dwellings. Probably late C17 or early C18;
altered in C18 and C19.
Coursed squared sandstone, stone slate roof with some
composition tiles. T-plan formed by main range on east-west
axis with wing to centre of south side.
Two storeys with a 4-bay north facade; a 1st-floor band
carried round, and coped gables which have the stumps of apex
and kneeler finials.
The principal distinctive features are large, almost
semicircular arched mullion-and-transom windows: one at each
end of the north side, which also has C20 (or restored)
coupled cross-windows in the centre, a 2-light mullioned
window under a gablet above these, and a gabled porch at the
west end with a small 2-light window above; a similarly arched
8-light window at ground floor of the east gable and a 6-light
mullion-and-transom window above; a similarly arched 6-light
window at 1st floor of the gable of the south wing, which has
a 3-light mullioned window at ground floor; and another arched
6-light window at ground floor of the bay beyond, which has a
3-light mullioned window under a gablet at 1st floor.
In addition, the east angle of the wing has a C20 glazed porch
to an inserted doorway, the east side of the wing has a
3-light mullioned window at ground floor and a chamfered
one-light window and a square sunk panel at 1st floor, and its
west side has a wooden lean-to porch at ground floor and a
one-light window above. Two ridge chimneys and gable chimney
at west end. Forms group with The Old school House (q.v.) now
linked to the west end.
