Farmhouse, now house. Early to mid C18; altered. Coursed
sandstone rubble now rendered, composition tile roof.
Double-depth plan formed by 2-unit front range with
contemporary rear wings coupled and gabled. Three storeys, 3
windows, symmetrical, with a chamfered plinth, a central
doorway with Gibbs surround, vertical rectangular windows at
ground floor and 1st floor now with C20 top-hung casements
(replacing former mullion-and-transom cross-windows) and low
3-pane windows at 2nd floor (formerly mullioned). Hipped roof
with chimneys on rear ridges. Rear: small C20 porch to centre,
numerous vertical-rectangular windows with altered glazing,
coupled gables. INTERIOR: front door opening directly into
left room; chamfered beams at ground floor with cyma stops;
roughly-hewn beams at 1st floor (formerly boxed) and some
inserted partitions in front range; dog-legged open-string
staircase with scrolled brackets, turned balusters (formerly 2
per tread but now only one), rectangular newels composed of
clustered turned balusters, and broad moulded handrail; very
unusual coupled upper-cruck roof trusses on main axis of front
range.
