Late C15 hall house, floored C17 and converted to three
houses, converted to public house 1980-81 and completely
restored. Rendered and colourwashed timber-frame under
pantiled roof.
2 storeys. South-east front with late C20 timber gabled porch
right of centre. Two 1981 2-light casements left and one to
right of porch. Three 1981 casements first floor. Gabled roof
with ridge stack over door creating late C20 lobby-entrance
plan.
INTERIOR. Close studded timber-frame with jowled principal
studs. Chamfered bridging beams. Stack inserted C17 and
rebuilt 1981.
Fireplace to north-east room with chamfered bressummer.
South-west room has fireplace with wider bressummer. Towards
south-west end of this room are remains of screen with 2
doorways to service rooms, entered through 4-centred arches.
Arch remains to one door, mortices only to other. Opposing
doors to screens passage remain defined: to south it is
4-centred and blocked, to north it is an opening with mortices
for the 4-centred arch.
First-floor frame with arched wall braces. Over area of hall
south-west of stack is a 3-bay crown post roof with 2
free-standing posts of octagonal section carrying crown purlin
on arched braces. No braces to collars. Remains of a 3-light
diamond mullioned window to south-east room.
