Pair of estate cottages, now houses. Mid C19, with late C20
alterations. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and
steep pitched slate roofs. 2 shouldered external gable stacks
with chamfered copings. Tudor Revival style. Plinth, quoins,
coped gables with kneelers and spiked finials. 2 storeys; 3
window range. Half-H plan. Windows have stone surrounds and
mullions under segmental pointed relieving arches. Recessed
centre has a large through-eaves dormer with 2 single light
windows. Below, a lean-to porch with central wooden post and
arch braces, covering 2 segmental pointed board doors with
ornamental hinges. Wings have 2-light windows with slit
breathers above and 3-light windows below, those to the left
wing reglazed.
An estate cottage provided for workers on the Belton estate by
the Brownlow family of Belton House.
