Pair of cottages. Late C18 to early C19. Ashlar front with
dressed stone to sides and rear, Welsh slate roof, ashlar stacks.
2 storeys, 4-windows. Two doors are C20 with flat stone hoods on
brackets, to left of each door is one 16-pane sash in plain case.
First floor has four 16-pane sashes in plain cases, plat band.
Roof on deep eaves. Returns are without windows, rear has
projecting 2-window wing with sashes; C20 extension to rear left.
Interior has c19 plank panelling and one large fireplace with
timber lintel. This building is said to have been a public house
beside the Devizes branch of The G.W.R. (dismantled) and is also on
the east bank of the disused Wilts and Berkshire Canal; 1796 -
1810.
