Farmhouse. C16, altered C17, refronted C18 and C20. Flemish bond
brick on rubble stone plinth, tiled roof with axial brick stack.
Former open hall house, entry into hall, 3-cell plan with
extensions. Two-storey, 5-window. Central 2-panelled door with
strap hinges in chamfered wooden surround, two 2-light segmental-
headed casements to right and 4-light and 2-light casements to
left. First floor has three 2-light, one 3-light and single-light
casements; all with C20 leading. Left return has 2-light
casements and lean-to extension, some rubble stone and lower
rooflines evidence of earlier build. Right return has 3-light C20
casement to ground and first floors. Rear has C20 French windows,
casements and 1970s two-storey wing to left, C18 outshut with
casements to right.
Interior retains timber-framing in former rear wall, chamfered
beams with run-out stops, open fireplaces with chamfered lintels on
stone jambs in hall and parlour, partly blocked lower end
fireplace. Stairs on south side of inserted axial stack, enclosed
with plank and muntin. Roof retains smoke-blackened trusses with
cambered collars, two tiers of butt purlins, to former 2-bay open
hall, closed truss divides bay over service end.
