Row of cottages. Late C18 and early C19. Coursed, squared and tooled
gritstone, stone slate roof. Extended and subdivided 4-bay range with
bays 3 and 4 breaking forward. Burnside flat occupies the whole second
floor and is entered from rear. 3 storeys, 4 windows to first floor.
Wood casements with glazing bars throughout. C18 bay 2 has large quoins,
panelled door within open stone porch, 3-light window to left with projecting
sill, 3-light window to first floor and 2-light window to second floor
both with square-faced stone surrounds. C19 bays 1 and 3 similar with
3-light window with projecting sill to each floor. C19 bay 4 has C20
part-glazed door to left and 3-light window with projecting sill to both
upper floors. Corniced ashlar stack to left of bay 2, 3 other ashlar stacks,
2 of them extended in brick. Pair of cottages attached to left
and also known as Burnside Cottages not of special interest.
