Group of 4 houses. Dated 1908. By Perry Houfton for the Brodsworth Colliery
Company. Red brick, partly roughcast; later cement-tile roof. 2 storeys,
1 : 1 : 2 : 1 : 1 windows to lst floor; symmetrical with recessed centre
between taller-ridged end houses. Wooden casements with glazing bars
throughout. No. 135 (to left): original part-glazed, panelled door under a
wooden canopy on scrolled brackets to left of a 4-light window: 4-light
window to 1st floor. No. 133 (adjacent); matching doorway flanked by 3-light
window on left and an oval window on right with 3-light window beyond; tile
dripmoulds; two 3-light windows to lst floor, that to right paired with
window of No. 131 under a gable with corniced date plaque. Nos. 129 and 131
the same but handed. Swept eaves, hipped roofs to end houses; lower ridge
over centre with 3 dentilled brick stacks. Part of Woodlands colliery
village (see under Church of All Saints, Central Avenue). Good example.
