Farmhouse and cottage, until recently divided into 3, now single dwelling. Late
C16-early C17. Timber frame exposed for 4 bays, end bays rendered. Brick south gable
end and C20 brick rear extensions. High pitched swept pantile roof, continuous over
outshut at rear. Rebuilt brick stack over present entrance. 2 storeys. Formerly had
rear outshut and probably end aisles. 4 Yorkshire sashes to each floor (some of which
are c.1980) and one small additional window to the 1st floor. Close studding, ground
sill on plinth, middle rail and arch braces. Entrance in 2nd exposed bay of frame from
north. C20 door under eliptical hood. Considerable exposed framing to interior
including deep chamfered ceiling beams with large tongued stops. Stout chamfered
fireplace beam in room to right of entrance. Stout jowled post and wall plate to rear
above former staircase outshut. On 1st floor: wall plates, jowled posts, tie beams
and stud partition. Stout queen strut roof with one level of purlins and arch braced
tie beams.
