Pair of lodges. Late C18. Ashlar, rendered to rear, Welsh slate roofs. Each square in plan, 2 storeys, 1 bay. Front elevations each have large Venetian window with C20 small-pane casements, swagged frieze, cornice and archivolt, set in full-height round-arched recess, with impost band and voussoirs. Central area of stonework breaks forward slightly leaving recessed corners. Reeded eaves frieze with paterae. Above to central section is a pediment. Roof hipped with central stack. Elevations facing inwards: 2 steps up to central 6-panel door set in surround with architrave, swagged frieze and cornice on consoles; above a round window with radiating glazing bars and architrave. All is set in a full-height round-arched recess with impost band and voussoirs. Similar frieze and cornice at front elevations. To rear of lodges modern 1-storey extensions. Formerly the lodges to Thornton Hall, which is demolished.
