Lodge and entrance archway with screen walls. 1909 by George Jack for Sir Hugh
Bell, dated over arch. Ashlar; pantiles and stone flags to roofs. Romantic
mixture of styles. Low, 2-centred arch through narrow range with pseudo-
machicolated eaves and small central gable with escutcheon. Lean-to behind
buttressed octagonal chimney at left. Curved screen wall, with stepped, gabled
coping, runs left to octagonal pier with ball finial. To right of arch a very
small window in pointed recess; then a linking bay, with small window, to
2-storey lodge with large shafted and corniced chimney-stack in left end. Swept
roof has curved gable copings and ball finials. Irregular 3-bay road front has
leaded casements. (The park front has segment-headed sashes). A low, curved
one-storey wing sweeps forward to a small octagonal pavilion with large,
projecting octagonal chimney-stacks.
