Parish church. 1880-1 on a medieval site. By Charles Lynam. Red brick
(English bond) with ashlar dressings; plain tile roof with coped verges.
Early C13 lancet style; 3-bay nave, 2-bay chancel, north-east vestry
tower. Nave and chancel: the nave has a coped plinth and pilaster buttresses;
lancet windows, those to the nave have a sill band; re-sited late C12
or early C13 north door with C19 gable over. North-east tower: at the
junction of nave and chancel, 3 stages with pyramidal roof on louvred
timber sub-structure and angle buttresses, the stages are marked by
ashlar bands; the first stage is the vestry, pointed north door and
round headed loop to the east possibly C11; the second stage has lancets
to the north, east and west, the third stage has paired lancets to the
east and a clock to the north. Interior: wide pointed and roll moulded
chancel arch with inner roll moulded order sprining from corbels. All
windows have segmental pointed rere-arches. Nave and chancel have scissor
braced common rafter roof trusses. Gallery in the north-west tower,
above the vestry with splat baluster rail. Fittings: C19 wooden pulpit
with linen-fold panels. Stained glass: good east window.
