Large farmhouse. Early C18 rebuilding of C17 house with minor C20
alterations. Red brick with raised bands at floor levels; hipped tiled
roof on wide dentilled eaves cornice; large panelled brick ridge stacks.
Squat truncated 'T'-plan of front and two short set back wings. The
front, on a cellar, of two storeys and dormer-lit attic and five windows;
hipped dormers set over transomed casements with gauged brick heads;
central entrance with C20 pedimented surround, fanlight and part-glazed
door. Pevsner describes an elongated shell doorhead of which no trace
remains. Set back wings of one similar bay with a similar C20 entrance
to the left side. Interior: large staircase to rear of central hall
rising from cellar to all floors: of C17 type with closed string,
heavy moulded straight handrails and turned balusters, the detail
remains undiluted from cellar to attic. Front room at right of entrance
has early C18 panelling reset and remodelled in the late C19. B.O.E
