about 9m south of west face of
tower, Church of St. Ethelbert

Headstone, John Adams, died 1686; stone. Shaped head: in centre
a head, scroll to left and right, hollow in top connecting to plain
circles at corners. Below stylised flower each end, flourishes
and a further head in centre with wings rising to frame lower half
of head above. Centre recessed for lettering with moulded margin
to sides. Oldest surviving dateable monument in churchyard.
