SO 71 NW BLAISDON -

7/2 Stanley House

II

House, C17, extended mid C19. Timber-framed with brick nogging on
stone plinth, extension brick, as is one rebuilt bay of original
house; roof tiled. 3-room lobby-entry plan, 2 storey, with
extension to left in line. Right hand 2 bays timber-framed,
originally 3-panels high (one storey and low attic walls), with
right hand bay a flush cross wing. The eaves were later raised one
panel in timber-framing, the gable cut off at collar level and a
continuous roof formed. The principal rafters to the cross wing
are tenoned at the foot into a tension brace between the old wall
head and the first-floor bressumer, not into the tie beam. Windows
inserted, 3-light mullion and transom ground floor, mullion only
first floor, with cambered heads. Front door now window: window to
right off-centre to original gable above, first floor window
central. Third bay of timber-framed house on left was rebuilt
early C20 in brick with door and 2-light casement window beyond.
Brick extension beyond has a 3-light wooden casement window on
ground floor, 2-light on first: its eaves are slightly higher that
main house.
Interior not inspected.
