Cross. Probably C17. Sandstone bubble and ashlar. One-metre-high coursed
rubble rectangular base with block coping supports socket of tapered cross-
shaft; arms, wider at outer ends, have low-relief paterae on end of each
horizontal arm; eroded cartouche on west face, and eroded date ..87 on north.

Purpose and date uncertain; formerly recorded as bearing inscription I H S
and date 1687. Source: W. Whellan and Co. History and Directory of Co. Durham,
1856, 244.
