Shown on O.S. map as Old School Cottages.
Former school and attached pair of cottages, probably former schoolhouse. School
possibly mid/late C18, with C19 additions to rear; cottages early C19. Brick;
cottages whitewashed. Slate hipped roofs with boxed eaves; brick stacks. Gothick
style. School originally single classroom, with a second added. Single storey;
3-window range. Entrance in left return side has porch with pointed arched
doorway, and inside a 4-centred 6-panelled door. Both school and cottages have
Gothick ogee-arched windows, with casements of 2 arched lights and glazing bars.
Rear similar to front. Interior: Schoolroom has deeply coved ceiling. Cottages
are double-depth plan. 2 storeys; 3-window range. Central window blind. Late C20
glazed doors and porches. To rear: Casements with glazing bars under brick
segmental arches. Interior not inspected.
