House. Early C14, with C15, C16 and C18 additions. South range
ragstone, with left gable (east) rendered above tie-beam and right
gable tile-hung above tie-beam. Plain tile roof. East range timber
framed on galletted flint plinth, ground floor covered with
C18 brick, first floor rendered. L-plan: south range at right-
angles to street and east range runing north from it. Set back
in own grounds. South range possibly not originally domestic.
South end of east range aisled. North elevation of south range:
2 storeys. Left section early C14 with large projecting stone
stack to rear. No windows (to front). 2-centred arched door on
first floor at right end of section reached by external steps
parallel to building. Door with shouldered head on ground floor
in angle with east range. Right section C15. 2 first-floor windows;
one 2-light Perpendicular window towards left end and one single
oblong light with chamfered architrave towards right. Door with
chamfered, arched head on ground floor between them.
West elevation of east range: C14 or C15 with C16 and C18 additions
and alterations. 2 storeys. Right of range roofed over whole span,
left with 2 parallel roofs of unequal width and at lower pitch
than that to right. Stack in rear slope of roof, off-centre to
right. Irregular fenestration of 5 C19 and C20 leaded casements;
one of 3 lights towards the left end, one of 2 lights not far to
right of it, a central 2-storey C19 canted bay of 3 lights on
each floor, one 2-light leaded casement to right of it and another
of 3 lights at right end. Door forming lobby entry to right of
canted bay. Doorcase of fluted Ionic pilasters truncated at base
with ill-fitting triangular pediment above, all inserted in C20.
Blocked C19 door to left of canted bay. Interior: South range has
moulded crown-post, large first-floor fireplace with moulded cambered
arch, and perpendicular 2-light first floor window in east gable.
East range has some exposed beams and posts, moulded door-posts on
first floor to west of stack and early C18 panelled corniced room
with corner fireplace and windows with thick glazing bars, on ground
floor to east of stack.
