Mid C19. Ornmanetal villa said to have been built by a retired tea planter.
Two storeys stuccoed brick with low pitched, deep eaved roofs. Pendants on
corners of eaves. Panelled ashlar chimneys with dentil capping.
Principal section of front 3 bays with central gable and a one bay extension
to left. Glazing bar sash windows With moulded architraves, centre on first
floor with dentil cornice to eaved architrave, above is stucco roundel (fox
catching birds). Projecting porch with dentil cornice. Six panel doors in
carved oak. Flanking verandah bays to left on west front, to right on south
front, with cast iron honey suckle standards. left hand bay has intersecting
tracery and first floor window adjoins 4 bay conservatory with hipped partly
fishscale tile slate roof and crested ridge.
South front 3 bays with gable to left hand 2 bays. Central tented porch with
cast iron honey suckle standards and flanking ground floor bays with dentil
cornice. Central first floor window round headed. Circular stucco panel
with relief of spaniel retrieving birds. Lower bay to right with gable over
(first floor window round-headed).
Tall spirelet over octagonal dovecote adjoins to right - adds a bizane touch.
Rubble wall to street about 4-6 ft high with chamfered top. Quadrants to
entrance by lodge (the latter is not of special interest.
