4/214 Court Street Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. C17 and early C18, altered C20. Rubble stone and
dressed limestone, tiled roof with brick stacks and coped verges.
Single storey and attic, 3-window main C17 range. Planked door to
right of centre in chamfered stone case with 2-light and 3-light
recessed chamfered mullioned casements to right, 2-light and 3-
light C20 mullioned casements to left. Three full gabled dormers
with C20 three-light casements to attics. Right return has 3-
light and single chamfered casements. Attached to left is early
C18 range with 2-light and 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned
casements to ground and first floors, left return has planked door
and blocked 2-light mullioned casement, rear has 2-light mullioned
casements. Rear of main range has gabled dormers with C20
mullioned casements, and pair small pointed lights to first floor,
C20 two-storey extension to rear right. Interior not accessible
at time of survey (January 1986), but said to have chamfered beams,
open fireplaces with chamfered lintels and stone jambs, through
passage to rear of stack. This farmhouse may contain late
Medieval features.
