1870. Tudor style school. Designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield. Large quadrangular
group of buildings. Red brick. Spare stone dressings. Steeply pitched tile
roof. Symmetrical main front. Central 4-storeyed gate tower, with octagonal
corner turrets, 2 tier oriel window and battlements. Based probably on that
of St John's College, Cambridge. Other windows with mullions and transoms.
Tall gabled dormers. Inside the quadrangle, cloisters with later glazing in
the arches. The library and chapel have fine contemporary interiors. Wrought
iron gates with both stone and wrought iron piers.
