Borton's Farmhouse

- II

Farmhouse. Early C19 front block with probably C17 range to rear forming a T
shape plan. The front range is of red brick with a slated roof; the rear
range is timber framed, mainly plastered but with some red brick casing;
hipped plaintiled roof. 2 storeys with attics to earlier part. Symmetrical
facade: 3 windows, inset sashes with glazing bars under flat brick arches; the
window reveals are painted white. Central doorway with inset 6-panel door,
rectangular fanlight with glazing bars, panelled reveals, reeded architrave
with corner embellishments and a cornice. Gable end stacks. The rear range
has some slatted dairy windows but the interior has been largely modernised
and very little of the frame is exposed.
