Farmhouse, mid C16 with extensions probably of C17 and C18. Originally
of 3-cell cross-passage entry form. 1 storey and attics. Timber-framed
and plastered 1/2 Plaintiled roofs with axial chimneys of red brick. Gabled
casement dormers. Mainly 3-light mid C20 casements. C19 4-panelled entrance
door within gabled porch. In the hall are heavy unchamfered C16 floor
joists; a deep supporting clamp has unusual carving in the form of traceried
fan-vaulting. An original stair with triangular blocks leads from the
cross-passage. Two very steeply-cambered tie-beams, one at the service
end partition, the other at the hall open truss with cranked arch-bracing.
Clasped-purl in roof.
