First rated in 1784 (wrongly dated 1744 in previous list). Built for John Waldron,
a clothier. 1784 [date of reconstruction of older house] . Main front - 2 storey
and attic. Brick on projecting plinth with moulded stone capping. Chamfered stone
quoins. Stone string at 1st floor level. Stone cornice carried up over central
pediment and broken forward over quoins. Tall brick parapet with moulded stone
coping. Flanking gable ends and hipped double roman tile mansard roof. 5 dormers
with segmental arched moulded heads and sash windows. Glazing bar sash windows
to 1st and 2nd floors, the ground floor with louvred shutters. On 1st floor -
4 windows with moulded stone cills, stone key blocks, and panelled sunblind pelmets
and central Palladian window with engaged Doric columns and entablature to side
lights, architrave and keyblock to central arched light and moulded stone cill
on console brackets. 4 windows with stone key blocks on ground floor and 6-panel
central door with arched fanlight of interlaced "Gothic" pattern in plain stone
surround with moulded string across door head, architrave and key block to arch,
in stone doorcase of engaged Doric columns, entablature and pediment. Slate flagged
path in front of house. Single storey wing to right of later date, same general
design, with 3 windows. 3 storey brick built wing forming west front. Attic and
basement. 4 ranges of glazing bar sash windows to 1st and 2nd floors with stone
surrounds having beaded inner edges. 2 similar but narrower windows on ground
floor and a modern 3 light casement replacing Venetian window. Double roman tile
roof with 2 segmental headed dormers and gable end brick stacks. 2 gables to east.
Interior, fine contemporary staircase. Terrace garden in front of house with high
retaining wall to road.

Westcroft, Stable Block to Westcroft, Building to north-west and wall, and
Nos 1 and 2 Waldron's Square form a group with the listed buildings on the
north side of the Conigre.
