Public House
II
Public House. C16 or earlier and timber framed and plastered with gabled peg
tile roofs. Now an 'L' shaped building, part two storey and part one storey,
with dormered attics and with large rear extensions. Only the north/south
aligned, two storey block is of interest containing a 3 bay late medieval
structure. This block has C20 casements with diamond leaded lights and a single
storey small paned porch block along its flank and a stack of 3 angled shafts
on the ridgeline. Exposed internally is a heavy timber frame with jowled posts
and halved and bladed scarf joints. Also an inglenook fireplace with mantel
beam and traces of old window openings.
