House. Late C16, altered and extended mid to late C19, altered C20. Timber
frame, plastered; extended in whitewashed brick. Thatched roof. 6 bays, 3
cells; originally a cross passage plan, extended to rear to form a T on plan
5 window front. Ground floor central C19 garden doors with side lights, all
margin glazed, architrave with cornice, to right a small 2-light leaded
casement and a large 3-light casement with hexagon and diamond pattern
glazing, to left a similar 3-light casement, first floor 2 and 3-light part
opening leaded pane casements. Rebuilt stack on ridge to left of centre
between original hall and parlour, right end C19 internal stack, both with
cogged oversailing caps. Gable ends have mixed casements, traces of
herringbone panelled pargetting, overhanging gables with curved brackets to
exposed plates. To rear right a C19 lean-to with an entrance in return, part
glazed, part fielded 6 panelled door, recessed in a chamfered surround.
Extending to rear centre is 2 bay C19 addition, mixed casements, some lattice
leaded, some segmental headed, towards rear a C20 porch, to rear an external
red brick stack with a cogged oversailing cap, lean-to backhouse; left return
has a further 1 storey and attic projection with a gabled half dormer stair
window. Interior: frame concealed on ground floor, stop chamfered binding
beams and joists, late C19 staircase. First floor exposed close studding,
straight arched brace to cambered tie beam. Purlins clasped by cambered
collars and halved principals in closed trusses and butted into chamfered
principals in open trusses, arched windbraces.
