Farmhouse and dairy range. C17, with early C19 alterations and additions.
Part timber-framed, painted brick infill, part brick, double span roof, slate
to front range, tiled at rear, end brick stacks with offsets. Two parallel
ranges of 3 bays on a north-west/south-east axis, the south-east range incor-
porating much of the earlier farmhouse. Three storeys. Framing: irregular
panels, mainly 5 from sill to original wall-plate with long, straight braces
in lower outer corners of ground and first floor levels; queen strut trusses
in gable ends. Front elevation to south-east: completely altered during early
C19 and the roof raised to create a symmetrical facade of the appropriate
proportions. Ground floor has bay window to left and C20 casement to right;
first floor outer windows are 20-pane sashes with a central 16-pane sash;
second floor has outer 15-pane sashes and a central 12-pane sash. Central
doorway; door is 6-panelled, raised and fielded, upper panels are glazed;
trellised timber porch with a swept lead canopy and scalloped decoration.
Interior retains some stop-chamfered beams. A brick range adjoins right
side elevation; a former dairy, scullery and probably for hop drying. Two
storeys with dentilled eaves cornice. Three bays with outshut to rear. Front
elevation has 3 ground floor casements with cambered heads and 3 first floor
casements. Interior has timber-framed partitions.
