SU 84 SW BENTLEY MAIN ROAD

5/2 Barn 20 metres west of
Northbrook Farm Cottages

Barn and stable. Late C17 (1680) and early C19. Brickwork and boarded walls,
with a tile roof. Timber frame of 5 bays with aisles on 3 sides (except for
2 bays north of the central entrance on the east side), with a stable block of
the early C19 attached at its north end. Queen post truss. Hipped roof,
continued at a slightly-higher level above the stable. Boarded walls. The
stable part has a 2 storeyed symmetrical east elevation, a central lunette
above a doorway, which is flanked by the pointed (Gothic) arches of windows
on each side; brick walls in header bond.
