Description

NZ 70 SE GLAISDALE GLAISDALE SIDE

Byre, barn and gin-gang
12/96 to north-east of Post
6/10/69 Gate Farmhouse (formerly
listed as part of out-
buildings to east of
house)

GV II

Byre, barn and gingang. Early C19 in several builds. Sandstone
partly with rough tooling, partly with herringbone tooling; pantiled
roofs. At west a long range, one storey with loft. 5 stable doors
with small windows between. Stone stair to boarded loft door in
west return. Eastern part more narrowly-coursed sandstone.
Attached on south a solid gingang with half-octagonal end and hipped
roof; boarded door and small high openings. Cart doors in east end
of barn. Rear elevation barely above 1 storey because of rising
ground. The 3 pitching doors are barely above the 4 entrance doors,
all boarded. Irregular openings, some slit vents; and a drive
shaft for a belt-driven threshing machine in the eastern section.
