East window of four lights, Perpendicular Gothic. The church was restored by Halliday in 1858, when chancel and aisles were rebuilt. His, then, the regimented banding, which makes the exterior seem all of the same date. In the churchyard, headstones of Clipsham limestone decorated with winged cherubs heads, a motif popular locally in the C18. The imagery is to encourage the departed soul to fly up to heaven. These examples date 1765 - 1785. (Photo Mar 2008).
