Canal-worker's cottage. Circa 1797 to 1801 with later additions and
alterations on William Jessop's and Thomas Telford's Ellesmere Canal. Red
brick; hipped graded slate roof with deep boarded eaves and late C19 axial
red brick ridge stack. Square plan. 2 storeys. Segmental-headed C19
casement on each floor to centre. Boarded door to right under C19 gabled
timber porch with outline of earlier gabled porch above. Mid-to late C19
brick lean-to to rear (canal side). This section of the Ellesmere Canal
was completed c.1801. The Ellesmere Canal Company amalgamated with the
Chester Canal Company in 1813 and became part of the Shropshire Union in
