C17. Long timberframed house. Now 3 houses. Medieval plan with parlour
(No 31), hall (No 29) and service rooms (No 27). 2 storeys and attics, with
cellar in No 29. Steep old tile roof, half hipped. Large square C17 red
brick stack with axial ribs now serving Nos 29 and 31. Smaller stack for
No 27 on ridge next No 29. Trussed roof with butt-purlins. Dormer on rear
slope in No 29. W end weatherboarded above brick plinth and plaster gable
with modern attic window. Plastered front and pronounced eaves overhang
with plastered soffit. Nos 27 and 29 each have a 4 panel door with flat
hood on shaped brackets, a sash window to the right and another above. No
31 has two sash windows, a similar door to the right and one window above
that next that door. Box frames to windows with moulded architraves. C18
6/6 sashes to 1st floor of Nos 27 and 29 but modern 6/6 replacements on
Gd floor. 2/2 Victorian sashes to No 31. Interiors have axial chamfered
beams. Posts exposed in No 31. C18 wooden fire surround and cupboard in
large fireplace in No 29 Gd floor. Modern rear additions. Imposing
position on brow of hill.
