21.3.68 (Formerly listed as

Farmhouse. Probably late C16 with mid-to-late C19 remodelling. Rendered
timber frame, partly rebuilt or refaced in coursed limestone rubble; slate
roof. 3-room baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys. Large brick stack behind
ridge off-centre to right. 5-window front, mid-to-late C19 wooden 2- and
3-light cross casements (front windows mostly replaced in matching style
in C20); boarded door with bracketed flat hood and later porch. Probable
former lintel re-used as cill at rear with carved shield and supporters.
Interior: chamfered beams; large open fireplace with early C19 surround
and spit rack above. The Earl of Northampton is said to have died here
circa 1600 (cf: former list).
